West End stars line up for free theatre festival West End Live - London’s annual free theatre festival - will this summer feature performers from Avenue Q, Fame, Chicago, Dirty Dancing, Stomp, Mamma Mia!, The Drowsy Chaperone and The Lord of the Rings. The event, which is organised by Westminster City Council, will also include other musical and dance acts, live broadcasts, arts workshops, interactive exhibitions and performances by the Sylvia Young Theatre School. Westminster cabinet member for special events Robert Davis said: “We are thrilled to have so many top acts confirm their appearance at West End Live. Their support and backing is proof of what a major event West End Live has become. “There is no other free event like it in London. From the very best that Theatreland has to offer, to the latest children’s shows, there really is something for everyone.” The festival, now in its third year, will be held in Leicester Square over the weekend of June 23/24, from 12pm to 6.30pm. Last year’s event attracted 130,000 people. www.thestage.co.uk/news/newsstory.php/16503/west-end-stars-line-up-for-free-theatre
