Thanks... Luckily it worked when I was there last week so she really was "defying gravity"...ha ha... Found someone today that said they might want to go and queue for the "day seats" with me...I wasn't really thinking about it until they said they would go and now I am really considering it. I would not go alone, cuz "what if I have to use the toilet while I am waiting?" It probably won't happen cuz ppl always flake on me...but it's worth a thought to go again and sit up front. See it from a different view...plus, with my horrible eyes, I may be able to spot Jye this time.

Thanks... ;D You are helping me decide to go for it one Saturday...of course I will have to brave bitter cold for hours and get there way before normal people get up (except Jazz). I'm not going all the way down there unless I am sure that I will get a ticket...so I will have to get out there early!

Oh my gawddddddddddddddd i am stunned....i just defied gravity at Idina Menzel's last show and i've just got back....and it was AMAZING!! the atmosphere was seriously electric...and the stage door, it was like waiting for Michael Jackson or Madonna to come out. i don't know but i've lost my voice....but i have to do a write up of this, but i'm shattered, i'll sleep on my review... If i never see Wicked again, i will have the bestest memory of it...Idina Menzel Rocked the West End. And yes, it was all about her tonight ;D Her No Good Deed tonight was the bestest riffing and belting i have ever heard

ok here's my review for those that want to know what it was like at Idina's last night.
Where does one start with Wicked and Idina Menzel’s last show? How about me almost missing out because of my “shall I go, shall I not go?” moments? What was I thinking, someone really should have slapped the crap out of me and asked me what on earth was going through my head to be umming and ahhing about it in the first place!! Anyhoo, lucky I got myself Row E at the last minute. Yes, I was going to be there to see Idina get closure on Wicked. The pre show atmosphere was electric, it was Wicked and Idina HYSTERIA combined! There were Idina tees, Shiz students and lots of green. And everywhere all you heard was one name “Idina Menzel”. You could describe the atmosphere like that of a rock concert and the show had not even started yet! So the curtain went up and the theatre went wild! Yes. THe ensemble got cheered which was just great! Idina finally comes on after No One Mourns the Wicked and she barely breathed and the Apollo was thundering in applause. And i mean Thunder, the great thing was she waited before she spoke her lines, as did the rest of the cast. Well, her first song is of course one of those Riffs and Belts songs and you really could not tell in her voice that she had done 8 shows already, she really had saved the best for last cuz when she sang the last line she went the “wizard and IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII” She riffed the crap out of the “I” And there was “What is this feeling?” hahahaha., I love Idina’s Zen pose and those little faces she pulls as she’s singing this number. There was also the infamous Ninja pose I’ve heard about, and SHE DID THAT TOO!! hahaha And I swear I can hear Jye Frasca’s voice in this, and during One Short Day, his voice is the loudest in the male ensemble. Hahahha. Popular was hilarious too, Idina doing the Toss Toss, on her last one she held back, paused and went “Tawss taws” in her English accent and she was so funny. Again she pulls the funniest faces when she’s watching Helen. I have to say I love it when Idina breaks character. I was hoping she would not be in tears and hoped we'd have the Idina giggle becuase it does not take much to make her giggle. And she giggled away. When Adam Garcia copies her “toss toss” after Popular he did the “toss toss” and just added something and she lost it. There was also his “I’ve been thinking” to which she replies “so I’ve heard” at the train station scene and she just lost it, in fact Adam, Helen and her just lost it. They tried about two times to compose themselves before they carried on. The sentimental bits started kicking in, the lion cub scene she started to cry. Then it was like She's never going to do this again. Defying Gravity – And yes, she defied gravity! The “…is ever gonna bring meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee downnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn” went on forever!! Omg the screaming started when as she started to fly and then again with her “meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee” it was freaking out of this world!! You could just about hear her sing “me” over the screaming. Was it just me or was there a most Rockier edge to the music today? The interval was just the same as pre show, it was really funny cuz I made friends with Danni (who sat next to me) and she was another Wicked fan, and the guy sitting in front of me, and we were raving about everything Idina, so during the interval, the French people in front of us asked “Why is the place going crazy?”. And it was soooo funny how we all chorused “it’s her last night” and then we went on in synch to explain the “Trap door” story, and we started talking about Rent, and the French people had seen Rent and loved Rent so they were impressed and we ended up talking about Rent and Maureen. Hahaha. And then the guy spotted Julie Walters sitting three rows behind us…Oh dear, if it was her first time, she walked into the craziest place in the West End that night.
And i have to mention the best number of the night...No Good Deed was Idina’s last of the riffing. You could so see she was going to riff the living daylights out of this song and she did. She riffed all the way to the Moon!! As she comes up screaming for “Fiyero” she went “Fi-YEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” and the last “No good deed will I do againnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn” Oh my gawd I have never heard such a frickin’ amazing sound. She didn’t just riff though, she sang it with venom, and Idina got her hand caught in her cape, but she styled it out really well. I tell you, this number wasn’t just about her riffing, it was just the way she sang it too…I got chills!! And her “uh” (before what good is this chanting?) was just so angry and desperate. The emotion of hurt and anger in her voice as Elphie believing she has lost Fiyero was something I have never seen. I loved it. She totally worked that stage. Idina had definitely saved her best for last, because that No Good Deed was one of the best ever performed. It's not hard to see why she got that Tony. During For Good Helen Dallimore was bawling, you could see Idina was fighting back tears and failed! That was just the saddest moment i have EVER seen on stage, ok it was a goodbye, but that song is sad and when Elphie says she can never go back to OZ, the tears flowed...Helen did a lovely speech for Idina and everyone was in tears. It was so sad to think Idina will never come back to Oz. It was just the saddest thing to see ever! I think Idina could barely get out “Thank You” hahahaha Yes, everyone raced to the stage door and it stretched from the stage door to the box office and was about 6 deep I kid you not! I think the whole of the Apollo had raced to see Idina leave..ok slight exaggeration…maybe there were 500 or 600 people! But what a night…it really didn’t get any better than being at the Apollo for Idina Menzel’s last night.

I'm tempted to go and see what Kerry Ellis is like as Elphaba at some point! It'll be strange hearing a British Elphaba!

Here it is...the review for today's matinee:
Here is my review for Wicked ...my first Elphaba post Idina
I love Wicked but after Idina Menzel’s amazing bow on out Dec 30 I didn’t know if I could go back to Wicked. It was something I’d been fighting, when and if I really wanted (I kept thinking I would go back, but when ??) to go back after that indelible memory of December 30. And I definitely had not planned to see it two weeks to the very day I saw Idina go. But, I couldn’t decide how I wanted to spend my Saturday and a friend had mentioned CJ had been on recently, and I thought “how about trying Wicked for day seats?” I was hoping they didn’t have any left and that I’d end up at Avenue Q instead, but hope was against me and my mum and I ended up at the Wicked matinee.
OMG memories of Idina were fierce, but I was determined to watch the show and not to compare CJ to Idina.
Anyway…Cassidy Janson , Andy Mace and JYE FRASCA were the covers.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from CJ’s Elphie. Ever since Sept 05, Elphie has always been American.
What a difference in the audience though, When Elphie runs out for Dear Old Shiz, there was no applause! In fact so much of the spontaneous applause I’ve been spoiled by for both Shoshana and Idina were no where to be heard. I wondered at times if this was the same show. It is a huge difference
Wizard and I: How hard it was not to picture Idina?? But CJ started to sing, and I was definitely impressed.
I have to say, I absolutely loved her by the Ozdust ballroom scene. I felt something I had never felt before. I wanted to cry for her Elphie when she comes out in that hat and does that dance. And I felt happy for her when Galinda joins in that dance and the rest start joining in that dance. I really wondered if I had two heads. On one level I was really enjoying CJ and her “posh English Elphie” and she emotes in such an amazing way, she just captures that. I was loving every new bit she had added to the role to make it her own. On the other hand or should I say head hahhaha, I just couldn’t get Idina out of my head. I wasn’t comparing CJ to Idina. That just would not be fair. I just had frequent Idina flashbacks, and even the odd Shoshana flashback if that makes any sense.
Defying Gravity was good. She does have an amazing voice I have to admit.
Act two:
I love Wicked Witch of the East. Katie, Jye and CJ. Jye Frasca is a great Boq. He’s just so cute. Watching him make “eyes” at Glinda in act one til she tells him to take Nessa to the dance. And then in Act 2 when you know what happens “my heart..!” top acting. He’s just lush and lovable haahhah Katie is brilliant there are no words to describe her.
Oh Andy Mace, i reall prefer his Wizard, i don't know what it is, but i like his Wizard.
OK As Long as You’re mine. Good number. CJ and Adam were definitely cute together. I am such a wh**e for this number anyway, I love it. It’s the most played song on my itunes.
No Good Deed. If I am to make a criticism of CJ, this would be my sole criticism, when Elphie rises screaming “Fiyerrrrrrrrrrrro” ; her “fiyerooooooooo” was very weak. OK, it could be me, but I was front row, it wasn’t hard to miss hearing that. Aside from that the rest of the number was awesome.
FG- CJ and Helen have this “two best friends” chemistry that made their relationship work well. There’s that playfulness, closeness after “Popular” and it makes FG sad.
CJ is now the third Elphaba I have seen. Yes, she is very good. She makes this role her own, and doesn’t do or even attempt to copy “Idina’s bits – for example ZEN!”. No, she has made it her own, by making her British and posh, and she is so great in her every emotion which makes you feel for Elphaba as she goes from student, to witch, to wicked witch, and those moments with “Yero”. You see her playing on her colour and being the odd one out in WITF, and making those faces, you see her wishing for something like that in “I’m not that girl”. I don’t know, I can list every thing, but I won’t. Cassidy Janson did a most terrific job as my first Elphaba after my “Broadway goddesses” and I wasn’t disappointed at all. I didn’t run out of the Apollo screaming “I want Idina back” hahahahah no, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great cast, great show as always.

Really? REALLY? I saw Wicked about a month ago and totally dismissed it as possibly the worst show I have ever seen!!! I'm just amazed by all this love for it on here! What's with that? I just don't get it! No good songs and I didn't really care about any of the characters! I liked the concept and the set, but the show was very, very disappointing after all the hype, I thought. I saw Kerry Ellis as Elpheba and she was amazing. If she had been singing songs from musicals I liked, I'm sure she'd have been my favourtie ever performer. Also loved seeing James Gillan as Boq after idolising him in his Starlight Express days. Helen Dallimore was simply terrible though and I think that spoiled it for me. Does everybody else love this show? I don't think I could bring myself to sit through it again, but I have to say after reading some of the posts on here, I'm wondering if I didn't miss something???

i'm back from having seen the Wicked matinee today with Kris, Michaela and Allisen. My first time seeing Kerry Ellis.
I have to say Kerry was Wow, Adam was out so we got Oliver as Fiyero and Jye was Boq.
Front row meant day seats, meant getting up at the crack of dawn to get in line..hahaha I love this show, the costumes, the set, the music, the choreography. I do, and Kerry was fab, wow her riffs were seriously awesome especially during NGD, and very different. I love how the music arrangement is more rockier with her Elphaba. However, whilst i think the London prod is good and i enjoy it, i still think the Broadway production is far more superior, not quite sure what it is, but it just is. Still bit my hand off during ALAYM hahaha.

I had to say "thank you, thank you, thank you" again to Jazz for waiting all that time in line for day seats. I SO would have been there if not for my stupid eye and stupid appointment. I owe you one and I will have to go and do it for you now. (He he...another excuse to go see Wicked again.) I so totally enjoyed it and was even more blown away by Kerry's belts than when I saw her in Nov. She was awesome. I was bummed about Adam being out, but Oliver more than made up for it. He is a cutie. I told my husband we are going to see it together after the new cast starts (Kerry, Oliver, and Dianne...can't wait to see them together.) And Jye as Boq...finally get to see Michaela's Jye...he was great! Of course, it's always great to bring a virgin to the show and Allisen was it this time. I was so loving it and seeing her reactions from time to time. Those girls at the end of our row actually squealed at the ending. Allisen loved it and we listened to the soundtrack on my mp3 player while on the horrible train journey back to Oxford. (We didn't realise that we got on the one that stopped at EVERY village train station between London and Oxford. I think two other trains passed us before we got home. We were both going nuts watching them pass us.) I can't wait to go back again...but it's gonna have to wait until WEL, MM, and maybe Ave Q in between. We also listened to MM on the way home (it was a loooooong journey) and my MM withdrawals are still pretty bad. ;D

Yes i do love taking "virgins" to shows, especially shows like Wicked and MM, omg yeah i heard the girls squeal. the girl sitting next to Michaela, Vicky was in the day line with me from 7am and she knew one of those that liked Idina and Shoshana and was curious to know what i thought of Kerry. Gotta say Kerry was impressive. Yeah she has her stamp on Elphaba and the notes she was reaching were awesome especially during NGD. i realize it's Helen that bothers me about the London production. Talking she's fine, but it's when she sings. I don't get on with her singing as much as i would like to. Such a shame as I love Glinda.

Then I guess when Dianne starts in July, we'll have more excuses to return. And after seeing Oliver on Saturday, I don't think I will be that upset over Adam leaving. I wasn't sure about him at first, but I loved his voice and that d@mn dimple on his cheek is so darn cute. ;D Plus, he waved to us at the end and he made me melt. Ha ha... (Am I sounding like a teenager again??!) Allisen didn't warm up to Helen's singing either...but liked her as Glinda. Someone posted Dianne singing Popular... www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGaAMhtp51AHope she's a good Glinda. ;D
